Computer CO2 Emissions

The world spends $5 to $7 billion dollars collectively to power inactive computers. If 100 million computers were put into the low-power sleep mode for 12 hours a day, 45 million tons of CO2 would not be produced a year. That is equal to the CO2 produced in a year by every household and industry in a country the size of Ireland. To prevent excess CO2 from entering the atmosphere, and to save a little on your next energy bill, please set your computer to go to sleep mode when you are not around.
