Save Some Energy - Save Some Greens
Saving energy can be fun because it usually leads to saving money. If you have central air, set your thermostat to 78 degrees when you are home and to 85 degrees or off when you are not at home. Also if its a nice day out you can shut off the air conditioner, open the windows, and use fans. You save 1-3 percent on your energy bill per degree when your thermostat is set above 72 degrees. You can save an additional 4 percent if you wash your clothes on the cold setting, and you can save 5 percent on your bill if you dry those clothes on a clothes line. You can save one percent if you run your dishwasher only when its fully loaded and turn off the steam dry to air dry instead. Turning off appliances, lights and other equipment when not in use, will save you an additional 2 percent. If your house is properly sealed and insulated, you can save 2 more percent. Lastly make sure your air conditioning ducks are properly sealed because that can contribute to saving 10-20 more percent on your energy bill.
